So this past week was pretty good! We had some really good lessons and people in church and whooo! it was good. annnnnd to top itall off we're going to the temple tomorrow! whooooohooo! I love the temple! I love the temple! and after the temple we are going to the Zoo! I'm super excited!
But lets see what else happened this past week... Oh! We had a miracle happen! A lady stopped US on the street and asked US how she can study with us and when... we're going to teach her tonight!! Whooooo! Milagres!Sunday, September 21, 2014
(411) hey y'all
September 15
Also we made cookies this past week! They were great! It was Larissa's 14th Birthday so we made her American Cookies! She loved them! Annnd I loved them... they didnt taste exactly like cookies at home... they just had this little bit of ... brasil... in them but they were delicious! =D
Also I dont know if I've ever told you guys about funk...but the favelinha next to our house had this HUGE rave dance party saturday so i figured I'd talk about it now... It's this type of music here... funk.... but yeah everybody loves to drive around in their car with their tricked up bases hanging out of their trunks and funk spewing from their speakers, setting off car alarms and other classy things like that... its fun at 230 in the morning... haah but i am so totally going to be looking it up for you guys at least once when i get home so y'all can hear it it's ridiculous!... but kind of a little awesome too... they've got some really sick beats... and my dubstep roots sometimes just make it so all i really want to do is break it down right then and there in the middle of the street... haha buuuuut i dont. Dont worry momma... I am respectable... most of the time... haahh =]
Buuuut yeah that was a pointless story but now y'all know a little bit more about brasil! whoooo! buuut now i kind of have to go!... I love you all so much! thank you so much for all the prayers and support!
Te Amo!

(404) Nova Companheira!
September 8
Sorry about the no pictures still... these computers are really lame lame lame apparently... but i promise that i am taking them!
Also I am on chapter 11 of the BoM in portugues! I am really excited to finish it again before the end of the year!
Alright, time for a story! So it was last transfer, before Sister S. Silva left, but we were at a member's house eating lunch and there was a little boy there. about 5 years old, and he was showing us how he is learning how to write, and Sister S. Silva told him he should write her name and that it was here on her tag ( is that the name for it... i cant remember the word in english...) and so he gets started... and i'm watching as he slowly writes out a J... and i'm thinking "J?? why J? There's no J in Sister S. Silva... whatever tudo bem"... But slowly he writes out the E and then the S and the U and I get it... She told him that her name is on her nametag (there we go... thats the word) and the name he saw was Jesus Cristo... and it really just kind of hit me that that really is the name that we are trying to have... We have his name here over our hearts every single day... and it really is our goal to take on the name of Christ everyday. It's the name that we will be called by when He comes again... and it is our responsiblity to know Him enough that we will respond... Read Mosiah chapter 5... it's my favorite chapter in the BOM and talks alot about it...
Buuuuut I'm out of time! I love you guys!
-sister Rice
So we had transfers this past week and I stayed here in Jardim Climax and minha companheira Sister S. Silva was transfered to Santo Andre and I got a new companion! Sister Shell! She is from Atlanta, Georgia and is a redhead! Whooooo! hahah She's really funny and awesome and we are gonna baptize todo mundo aqui em Jardim Climax!! Whooo =DD
Buuut yeah this past week was interesting and quite honestly a little rough buuuuut whats new?? hahah We still have 3 people on date, Larissa and Lysa, and Ana Cristina and we are working really hard with them and are really excited! (390) Soooooo i brought my camera today and this silly computer that i am using...
August 25
Sooo no pictures today... Sorry! Buuuuuut How are y'all doing?? Good? I hope so. I'm doing great! The area is finally picking up! It was slow going and a little rough for a while but we finally have two solid people on date and we are so excited!! =D

Also apparently little ol' Missouri made it into the news even down here in Brasil because of all the rioting... I would be proud if it wasnt for something so horrible... hahah
Let's see what else?? We had three investigators and 3 menos ativos in church yesturday! Which is a miracle! I am so happy to finally have people coming to church again! It feels like it's been forever! And hopefully in these next couple of weeks we'll be having a couple a baptisms! Whoooooo!!
Oh and on a more random note... i cut my hair... hahahaha ok not really. My compy comp just cut off the ends cuz they were all dead and ugly and blah blahblah... i may or may not have cried... buuuuut whatever... I have 4 more months to grow it all out again before y'all will see me... dont worry, I will have hippie hair when I come home!!
And speaking on my hair I am officially never washing my hair with warm water again... seriosuly, washing your hair with icy, freezing water does miracles. I finally understand why my hair has been so dry and disgusting my whole life... hahah seriously, try it out. It is fantastic.
Also, i only have 20 more pages left in the Book of Mormon in portugues before I finish it! It's only taken me almost 9 months buuuuut I have finally done it! I plan on finishing it tongiht! And I really want to read it at least one more time before I come home... I think I can do it! =D
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuut I'm out of things to talk about... I hope y'all are doing awesome though! Oh and here's this weeks quote from Unleashing the Dormant Spirit. Well actually the past two weeks since I didnt send an email last week....
"First and foremost you are a spirit child of God. If you neglect to feed your spirit, you will reap unhappiness. Dont permit anything to detract you from this awareness."
"You cannot communicate with God unless you have first sacrificed your self-oriented natural man and have brought yourself into the lower levels of meekness, to become acceptable for the Light of Christ."
I love you all! Thank you so much for all of the prayers and support and love!! Have a great week!
Te Amo!

(356) I don't like the fact that you all are back in school and work now...
August 11
And that picture is so funny!! Bahahahah I did a face mask in the MTC and sent that picture to Alicia... hahahah oh that is perfect! I am so happy that she put it up there! hahah =]
But like I said theres not much to be said about this past week. I forgot my camera too so I cant even send pics.... sorry this is so lameeee. BUUUT I do have the next part of the talk "Unleashing the Dormant Spirit"! =]
"In your life there have to be challenges. They will either bring you closer to God and therefore make you stronger or they can destroy you. But you make the decision of which road you will take."
Love you all! Have an awesome week! =D
-Sister Rice
No one talks to me anymore... =[ Buuuuuut that's ok i suppose... But yeah this week nothing really happened... Sister S. Silva was sick last Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday so we did like nothing... which sucked. I never expected that, before the mishh. That when you're stuck inside, for whatever reason, that it would not feel like a day off yay vacation party, but just really suck... hahah
Buuuuuut yeah. really nothing happened. Other than I suppose I had a wonderful interview with President and Sister Broadbent Saturday and that I love them to death. oh and i'm super happy that you guys finally got my letter! =] hahah it looks like one of the stickers fell off the front though... which is sad... but whatevers... hahah i dont even remember what i wrote...(349) I dont have a cool title for this email... sorry.
August 4
I also finally got my package! Peanut Butter! and Twizzlers! hahah Everyone here thinks that I am crazy to have asked for Twizzlers and none of the Brasilians liked them buuuuut I dont even care. They are perfect and my favorite. Ohand speaking of American food I had pancakes the other day too! With Maple Syrup!!!!!! I´ve had pancakes here before but it's always been without syrup cuz they dont have maple here... which has been kind of depressing. buuuuut last night we were at the house of a menos ativo and her son served a mission and in his last area he found maple extract in the fridge that some american missionary had left.... and so he made us pancakes with maple syrup! It was awesome! hahah
But yeah I really don't have that much to say, not much happened this past week. I had a little bit of a cold and it's starting to get hot again here (which sucks cuz hello, can you say pathetic winter?? Seriously... shortest and hottest winter of my life... which is funny cuz all anyone talks about is how freezing it was all last winter... ofcourse it's still hot when I'm here...)
But yeah... Oh! We might be having a baptism here soon too! I hope so! It's the nephew of the ward secretary. He came to church yesterday and it was great! =D
Buuuuuuut remember how I said I was gonna put up quotes from that one talk, Unleashing the Dormant Spirit, every week and then only did it once...?? Well, we're starting back up again because really this talk is amazing and the tips/advice that he gives in it are wonderful. They´re ways that we can be under the influence of the Spirit more in our lives and seriously are wonderful. So here we go, week number two: ( I especially tried to remember this one this past week...)
"When you are physically sick, tired, or in despair, stear your thoughts away from yourself, and direct them in gratitude and love towards God."
I love you all! Have a good week ok! Oh and the fotos are of me and Sister S. Silva, minha companheira, and of me and Sister Ray!!! =D
Te Amo!
-Sister Rice
Not a whooooooole lot happened this past week. I'm getting to know the area and members and investigators here a lot better so that's good!
Oh! And we had Zone Conference this past Thursday! And guess who was there!!!!! SISTER RAY! WHOOOOOO! We finally found each other! =D It was amazing to finally see her again after almost a whole year! Sister Hauter was there as well and it was just a big wonderful spiritual party! =D hahah(342) Back to São Paulo.....!
July 28
Soooooo obviously we had transfers last week and I am now officially back in the actual city of São Paulo in the Parque Bristol Stake, Jardim Climax Ward... I'm not gonna lie, I'm having mixed feelings so far about it. It's super interesting cuz it's like all straight up Favela (I have no idea how to spell this word dont judge me) aka the slums... i guess... i actually don´t know the translation for it... And ok it's not completely ALL favella buuut it's hard to go anywhere without at least being able to see one and compared to my last two areas here in Brasil that didnt have any favellas at all... that's pretty favella-y... hahah I feel like I was trying to see how many favellas I could fit into that sentence... But yeah so far the area has been good. super chill. just a little bit louder on Saturday nights... =] Annnd it's super small so that's nice. Shouldn't be too hard to learn my way around...

But yeah we don't have a lot of investigators so we've been working a lot on getting novos and it's been going really good. Oh! And my companheira! haahahh I almost forgot! Her name is Sister S.Silva and she's from Brasil (there goes my streak of every companion being from a different country... =[ buuuuuuut tudo bem =] ) She's from the Nordeoste (once again I have absolutely no idea how to spell that... no judging please...) The northeast I think it is... which basically means the cool part with all the cool strange food that you hear about from Brasil... So that's cool. She's pretty cool. I like getting to only speak portugues again... it's super helpful...
Let's see what else?? Oh! Did I tell you guys?? President changed the times of Pday on us... Pday officially starts at 9 now and goes until 5. And then at 5 is when we have distict/zone meetings until 630 and then it's back to work... It's a little weird but it's good cuz now we aren't loosing another morning of studying for meetings and such...
OHMYGOODNESS! I haven't told you guys yet! hahahah I totally forgot that this was onyl last week! It feels like ages since I've been in Rudge... buuuuuut so pretty much the dvds here in brasil are like the cheapest thing ever... and not even like the bootlegs but the actual DVDs... annnnd I may or may not have bought 3 last Pday for 20 bucks. 20 dollars!! And guess which ones they were?!?! Stinking Le Mis, The Amazing Spiderman, and The Dark Knight Rises... All for under 20 bucks... The Dark Knight Rises was only 5!!!... They stinkin had THE HOBBIT for 7 dollars!! I kind of had a heart attack... Ovbiously I am not watching them on the mishh, they're still all sealed up and packed away... But I'm just so excited about them for after the mishh! hahah Sister Robinson was dying laughing at me while I was just geeking out all over the place... =]
hahah so uh yeah... that was cool... and obviously as y'all can tell i ovbiously havent changed too much... hahah but i've gotta go now! I love you all! Sorry I promise next week I will get the quotes up here but I'm out of time!!
Te Amo!!

(335) Transfers.
July 21
Sooooooo I'm being transfered... again! I'm not gonna lie I am a little bummed cuz I really love Rudge Ramos buuuuuuut it is going to be great! I know that! I'm sad to be leaving the people here but I know that I'm off to meet more people equally as wonderful as here in Rudge... and I am going to love them just as much. =]
But this past week was really great! Saturday the ward had a Festa de Junina at the capela and it was awesome! Basically, it's just a big country party and everybody dresses up like hillbillies and eat bbq and corn and cake cake CAKE! It was great! And really funny actually. I never thought that I would go to a country themed party here in Brasil... hahah but it was a lot of fun!
Annnnnnnd our investigator came to the party! And brought his cousin and aunt with him! We found him the day before, Friday, and taught him about the Restuaration (I have no idea how to spell that in English anymore...) and gave him a baptism date (which he accepted!! whooooo!) and invited him to the party and he actually came! It's so awesome when people actually come to things! Annnnnd then he actually came to church too! And loved it! He is so golden and so going to get baptized! Sister Robinson has promised to keep me updated...
Buuuuuuuuut not much else happened this past week... or at least that I can remember... annnnd I may or may not have forgotten to bring the next part of the Unleashing the Dormant Spirit talk for this week... soooo next week will just have to have two in it.. =]
But I love you guys! Thanks so much for all the support and love and prayers! Oh and just look at the names on the pic of the bad bootleg of the twilight movie... it's hilarious. =] Até semana que vem!
TE AMO!

(328) HAPPY ONE YEAR TO ME! HAPPPPPPPY ONNNNNE YEEARRR SEEEES
July 14
Oh and we totally had permission to watch the Final yesterday! But we decided to spend it studying... aren't we righteous?? hahah jk. rowling.
Um let's see what else... The Bakerys here in Brasil are super fancy. Um I got the Hobbit postcard that Abby sent me and I loved it! I'm really happy that y'all finally watched His Grace is Sufficient. See??? I know what I am talking about.
Oh and speaking of amazing talks that change lives another one that I love is Unleashing the Dormant Spirit. I can't remember who it is by but it was given at BYU in the 90s I think and it is up there with His Grace is Sufficient. He talks about how the greatest accomplishment we can have in this life is to be under the complete influence of the Spirit at all times. And then he gives a couple of tips/advice thingys that him and his family use in their lives to have the spirit more and be better people. And I am telling you just mastering one of these things would make me 10000x better than I am now. But I thought that I would start sharing them with you. One every week. I am currently trying to memorize them all and honestly they are amazing and I am super excited to share them with y'all! So here we go! Week One:
"Embrace this day with an enthusiastic welcome, no matter how it looks. The covenant to which you are true enables you to become enlightened by Him, and nothing is impossible for you."
Have a great week y'all! I love you all and can't wait to talk to you next week!
Te Amo.
-Sister Rice
Um yeah. One year. ONE YEAR! On Thursday! How does that even happen?? It literally feels like just a couple weeks that we were baking up a storm for my mission farewell and icing out those brasilian flag cookies of death and packing up my bags and putting me on a plane... I feel like I was just puking out my guts in my Mission President's House in New Mexico on my first day in the field last week... hahaha and how on earth have I been here in Brasil for almost 8 months now?? Seriously the time moves so fast and so much has happened...
Buuuuuuut as for this past week the big news of the week would be the slaughter of Brasil by Germany last Tuesday... one to seven. It was horrible. hahahaha seriously after the 4th goal everyone was wishing that they would just stop the game and just let them win without putting Brasil through more humiliation... but yeah, we actually ended up having to go home after the first half... thank goodness! hahah Sunday, August 10, 2014
(321) Vai Lá Brasil!!!
July 7, 2014
Sooooooo this past week has been really good! We started teaching a couple new families that really have a lot of potential and we are super excited about them! Also as y'all know this past Friday was 4th of July! We sang the American Anthem for comp study and I studied in my 4th of July tshirt...I almost bought American flag leggings here while i was in Mirandoplois... but I ran out of time... =[
But theeeeennn it was goodbye US and heeelllllloooo Brasil!! They played in the Quarter Finals Fridat against Colombia and of course it was amazing! Not as nerve wracking as the last game but still awesome! I'm a little nervous for tomorrow but I know they're gonna win! =]
Let's see what else...I'm more than half way through the book of mormon in Portuguese now! I've only been reading it since January... hahaha at this rate I'll finish it just in time to come home! haha No I think I'll finish it before then... it was really slow going for awhile there but it is so much easier now... I would only have to look up a couple of words for every page now if I wasn't too lazy and still doing that now! hahaha but I'm super excited to finish it!
But yeah I don't have that much left to say.. or I'm sure I do but just can't remember it... Thanks for all the love and prayers! I love you all! Have a great week! Beijos!

(314) BRASILLLLLLLLL! =]
June 30, 2014
So this past week was crazy!! We went to the temple Tuesday, which was amazing! I love going to the temple! But it was also exhausting... Spending the whole day in São Paulo transito is never peaceful... but i´m super glad we got to go! It´s always nice.
And then Saturday we had a mission wide conference to meet the new mission president! President and Sister Tanner left Friday night and Saturday morning the whole mission went to the São Judas Capela to meet President and Sister Broadbent! It was so cool! And I love President and Sister Broadbent already! It was really neat, the second I saw them I was just hit with this overwhelming confirmation that he really is our President now and that he was called by God to lead this mission and I love them already! It was funny. He told us about when they got their call back in October and how that day they had had the missionaries over for dinner and he had just been released as Bishop and was home early for the first time in forever and they were going to go see a movie together but then he checked his phone and he had a message from the secretary of Elder Tom L. Perry.... needless to say they did not go out to see a movie that night... hahah But I am really really excited that they are here and to work with them these next 6 and a half months! (not that anyones counting or anything... hahah)
Alllsoo Saturday was the first game of the set of games before the quarter finals of the World Cup.... hahah obviously i know a bunch about futebol... but it was between Brasil and Chile and we totally got to watch it!! It was so awesome! Well, actually we only made it in time to watch the second half... and the 15 mintue ovetime, and the 2nd 15 mintue overtime... and then the penalty kicks... It was horribly intense! It came down to being tied up in the penalty kicks all depending on the last save by the Brasilian goalie... I´m pretty sure all of Brasil was dying! I also officially have a favorite brasilian futebol player! HULK!! (hull-kee) Definitely my fave...and no it has nothing to do with his name... ok maybe just a little bit haha really i just feel cool for knowing any of their names to be honest... but he´s deff the fave.
But yeah I hope that y'all are doing awesome! I miss and love you guys a bunch! Have a great week!

(300) My new compy comp!!
June 16, 2014
So we had transfers last week! Annnnnnnnnd I have minha nova companheira!! Whoooooo! Her name is Sister Robinson, she´s 24, and she´s from New Zealand!!! that´s right. New Zealand. NEW ZEALAND. As in middle earth! MIDDLE EARTH! I have been dying all week because of it. She has skiied down mount doom. MOUNT DOOM! I told her that I am for sure coming to visit her and that i am carrying her up Mount Doom on my back so we can ski down it... or more likely roll down it, but that´s not important! hahah Seriously I am stoked. I am so excited. hahah It´s actually really funny. We´ve been wanting to be companions for like 3 or 4 transfers now and every tranfser that we are both there we´re always both just like "this is it! this is the transfer!" and then it doesnt happen. And so this past Tuesday at transfers again we were both just like it is totally 100% happening again, we even stood by each other and everything. And slowly everyone else was getting called and my anxiety was slowly getting worse and worse and we´re both just like "oh my goodness it´s not going to happen! NO! It´s going to happen! No it´s not!" hahah but then all of a sudden she was hugging the crap out of me and we were companheiras! Whoooo! It´s a Christmas Miracle! hahah But yeah she´s awesome and it´s pretty cool having her as an companion. She´s teaching me british english and how to hula and the haka and it´s gonna be great! hahah
But yeah so that´s great and I love her and also the World Cup started this past week! The first game between Brasil and someone else (who knows, all anyone down here cares about is Brasil) was on Thursday and the next one for Brasil is tomorrow. It´s actually pretty cool! Everyone get super excited and happy and all dressed up in yellow and green and drive around waving flags and honking horns and it´s just a big festa. We stayed in and studied during the actual game and then went out and worked and it was super calm so that was pretty good. It´ll probably get crazier the longer it goes on but it was still really cool! I remember 4 years ago being out at school and watching videos and stuff about all the excitement of the world cup and thinking about how cool it would be to be from a country that LOVES soccer or even just be in a country during the world cup and.... BOOM. here I am. It´s pretty funny how it all worked out. hahah
Let´s see what else... We´re going to the temple next week! Super excited! We´re going on tuesday so I wont be emailing until tuesday so dont freak out when I dont email monday... also It´s the last time we´ll see President and Sister Tannner! PResident and Sister Braodbent get here on the 26th or the 27th and then BOOM it´s them! We´re gonna have a big getting to know you conference with the whole mission so that should be pretty cool! I´m excited!
OH! Also! Sister Ray is finally coming! I don´t know if I told you that last week! Sorry if I did but she´s coming and I´m so excited and also Elder Starr and I´m so excited! AAHHHHH!
Well, that´s all i´ve got for this week... I hope y'all are doing good! I´m doing great! Loving my companion, loving my area, lovin the mishh! (Oh and it´s 11 months tomorrow... make a cake tonight with the elders....=] ) LOVE Y'ALL.
-Sister Rice

(293) Transfers!!
June 9, 2014
I cannot believe that it is transfers again already! This has literally been the fastest transfer of my mission life! It feels like yesterday I was emailing you guys telling you about my new area Rudge Ramos! Is is going by as quickly for you guys??
So yeah, transfers tomorrow! I will be staying and my compy comp Sister Sequeira will be leaving... It´ll be hard, she´s been here for 4 or 5 transfers already and it´s hard to leave after that... and I´m gonna miss my companion from Africa! =[ but it will be good and a fantastic transfer!
And speaking of this transfer, SO MUCH is going to happen this transfer! The two biggest being that President and Sister Tanner are leaving the end of this month and THE WORLD CUP starts next week! I don´t know whether to be excited or scared! hahah It will definitely bring a change to the work here but it´ll still be cool to be here during something so big!
Also! I think that Sister Ray (my mtc companion) got her visa!!! FINALLY! I am so excited to see her! It´s been almost a year already! It´s going to be so awesome to have her here though!
We had stake conference this past weekend also! It was really cool! The Saturday night Adult session the Stake President invited all the missionaries and it was all about missionary work and how the members can be more involved and it was really cool! He had us the missionaries do a couple roleplays of members talking to their friends and neighbors and then had everybody there do a couple roleplays as well!! It was so awesome! And they had a special satalite transmission here from salt lake of m. russell ballard and richard g scott for all of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro! It was so cool! And kind of weird to hear Richard G. Scott speaking portugues! hahah I kept expecting it to be english! But it was really cool to actually hear his voice! That´s one thing that I dont really like about not listening to things in english, you don´t actually get to listen to the prophet´s voice... =[ but it was really cool and I understood pretty much everything! whooo hooooo! hahah
And I really liked what you wrote about your guys stake conference in your email momma! What President Selzak said about weaknesses. It´s really funny that he spoke about that cuz I´ve actually been thinking about that a lot and how it really is true that the more you are aware of your weaknesses the closer to Heavenly Father you are... which is kind of the opposite of what people want or expect... but it´s true. If you read Ether 12:27 it says ( and sorry this is paraphrasing... i only have my portugues scriptures with me right now...) "If men come onto me, I will show unto them their weaknesses..." Come unto me is the invitation that Christ extends for all of us, and is something that all of us to one extent or another want... but i dont think that I know one person who actually really wants to be shown their weaknesses... no one likes that... if i had my way i would hide them all away and only think about rainbows and Doctor Who all day... J/k j/k not Doctor Who... I mean the scriptures of course... =] haha no but seriously it feels like lately all I can see is my weaknesses continuously stewn out before me... I guess this is just cuz I am SUPER close to the Lord =]... hahahaha once again, j/k. sorry I don´t ever get to be sassy or sarcastic in Portugues so it´s nice to get it all out... even if it is just in writing! =]
But yeah.... I don´t really have anything else to say at the moment.... other than that I love you all and hope that y'all are having a fabulous June so far! Love love love love love love e amor!

(286) Oi Oi Oi!!
June 2, 2014
How was y'all's weeks?? Mine was great!!! We had a baptism! WHOOOOO! It was so amazing! Leticia!!! She is so wonderful and I am so happy for her!
And it was super cool. The baptism was this past Saturday, the 31st of May. aka exactly one year since I went through the temple for the first time! It was kind of surreal when I realized that... sitting in a chapel in the middle a baptism in the middle of Brasil... One year ago I had no idea what to expect of my mission and now all of a sudden I am one month away from having a year on the mishh. Sometimes missions are hard (well, really all the time) and sometimes you feel like you really aren´t making a difference in the lives of these people that you love so much. But sitting there at the baptism of one of my investigators, I remembered sitting in the temple and how hopeful I was for the next 18 months of my life, trying to picture all the people that I would meet and come to love and things that would happen. And it was a nice reminder that I really am helping here, and not just bumbling around Brasil trying to speak português, but really helping. =]
We also had Zone Conference this past week! It´s the last Zone Conference with President and Sister Tanner! They´re leaving the end of this month and I know that we are all going to miss them so much! They have been so wonderful and have helped me so much! And I really am going to miss them, but I know that President and Sister Broadbent are called of God for this mission and that I will love them just as much! They sent a video to President and Sister Tanner for them to show to us, just talking and to let us get to see them! And it was really cool! They are going to do great here!
But um yeah... i have a bunch of other things to write from this week and last week that I didnt write but I´m almost out of time! I love you all so much! Thank you so much for all the prayers! Have a good week ok? =] Talk to ya next week!

We had a batismo! This past Saturday! This is Leticia! She is fabulous! I have

send us some good ones! =]
us trying to fill up the font! haha we ended up using this hose and buckets cuz
no one could get the silly little faucet thing to work! hahaha
and look! Irmã Vera bought this for me! Isn´t it beautiful! =D hahah There are
thousands of real life ones here and I told them how i´ve always had a secret
desire to have a hippie van! and now i have it! =D hahah
Last Zone Conference with President and Sister Tanner! I´m gonna miss them so
much! They leave the end of this month! =[

Hahaaha yeah I didn´t really have anything else to say up there so yeahhhh... but sorry about not emailing last week I didn´t really have very much to say... =[ Buuuuuut this week I have a bunch! So yay!
Let´s see... first things first! We are going to see Elder Anderson
on Wednesday! He´s coming to visit and talk with us and the Interlagos mission
and we are all so excited! haha Sister Sequeira won´t stop talking about it! I
will tell you all about it next week! Oh and I´m super excited because I´m gonna
get to see the sisters from my MTC District who are in Interlagos! It´s going to
be so awesome!
Also... trying to explain baseball in portugues to Brazilians who don´t
even understand the basics is a nightmare... escpecially when you are me and
don´t really care about baseball... But seriously, just picture that for a
moment when you want a laugh... =]
Let´s see... Oh! We also have an English class here in Rudge Ramos and
this past week we taught people about food... and a large section was focused on
Hamburgers..... I taught people english using "I want to buy a Hamburger"... it
was hilarious... and no one else got it but that´s ok. I also taught them about
double bacon cheeseburgers and how they are gifts straight from heaven...
especially if they have green chilies and are from Blake´s =]
The work here is good, could be better but good! The people here are
so much more receptive! We´ve only had to knock doors once for like 5
minutes! It´s so awesome! We also might be having a baptism soon! I really hope
so and will totally send pictures!
So yeah... this wasn´t exactly the big huge email that I promised last
week but... I love you all! And get excited for next week cuz I´m sure my email
next week will be full of all the wonderful spiritual insights that I´m going to
have during our time with Elder Anderson! =D
Love you all so much and thank you so much for all the support and
prayers!
-Sister Rice

at the moment... me and sister sequeira!! =]
(265) Rudge Ramos!!!!!!
May 5, 2014
Sooo transfers happened and I am now in the Rudge Ramos (Whoooo-Geee Haaaa-Mos) São Bernardo 1st ward! Whooooo! My new companheira is Sister Sequiera! She´s from Africa!! Cabo Verde! She´s so cool and speaks like perfect portugues (they study it there in school) and no english so it´s been great! =D
I am really loving the ward so far! I haven´t met everyone yet, but the people I have met I love! There is also two sets of Sisters here so that´s fun! We have out lunches together everyday and it´s cool being in a ward where there is enough work for two sets of missionaries!
The people here in this area are so different than in my last area! They actually stop and talk with you and give you their address and want you to come back and talk with them! hahah It´s pretty awesome and I´m super excited!
My portugues is IMPROVING a CRAZY amount too! Seriously only being able to speak portugues is helping so much! Some night´s I can´t even write in my journal cuz I cannot manage to put english on the paper... and it's only been a week! hahah I am so excited!
Oh and also I found out the other week that my return date has been moved up a week... I´m now officially leaving Janurary 6th... instead of the 13th... Sooooo basically y'all can´t celebrate Christmas or my Birthday until I get back... Just save everything. =]
But yeah sorry I dont have much to say this week! Hopefully this coming week will be more eventful! Love you all! Beijos!

( 258) Transfers!!
April 28, 2014
So tomorrow is transfers again annnnnnnnnd I am being transfered! I won't know where to until tomorrow during the transfer meeting but yeah... It wasn´t much of a surprise. I´ve been here 4 transfers/5 months and Presidente practically told me during interviews that I was leaving... I´m a little sad. I love these people here so much and I really really don´t want to leave them at all, but I´m also a little excited to get to know a different area in the mission. But I do not like goodbyes so that was hard to go through and I still have some left today but that´s just part of the mission I guess!
But yeah this week has been pretty good. Oh! Some things I forgot to write last week! Abby! I got your card! It was wonderful! I loved it so much! I actually ended up opening it up at the mission office and all the elders who work in there gathered round to hear the secret of life and got really into it and it was great! And I can´t believe that I forgot that they are making The Giver into a movie! That is so exciting!
Also the other week for District/Zone Meeting I decided to make a cake for everyone... guess what type of cake I made???? Rice cake!! hahahah It was great! An investigator´s mom made it for us one time and we got the recipe and hello it´s the perfect cake for me to make for everyone! hahah it was actually disgusting. It was the first time I´ve baked anything down here in Brasil and it turned out really... weird. BUT none of that really matters! What matters is that Sister Rice brought a rice cake and I thought it was the greatest thing ever! hahaha
But yeah sorry this email is so short and lame this week... I had other things to write but I can´t remember any of them... but yeah... I hope that y'all have a fabulous week! Hey! Did you ever listen to His Grace is Sufficent by Brad Wilcox??? Cuz if so I have more talks that I´m waiting to give you guys! =] Love you!

(251) THE BLOG IS BACK!
April 22, 2014
Yay!!! I get to do my blog again! =D We had interviews with Presidente this past Thursday and he said I could do it again! YAY! It was kind of awkward/funny though... I guess apparently he read my blog (!) and couldn´t find anything particularly wrong with it (obviously... i try really hard to not send questionable things obviously) and said that I could continue! But he also said that I was a really good writer... a really good writer... the President of the BYU English Department thinks that I am a really good writer... after only reading the crazy random rushed rambling emails that I send home to yall every week!! BDLDFIHGFOHFJVNHOIJFDVOSIHGPWEJKCGUFIKALHRUGAHFJH!!! Boom. dead.
But yeah... that was a pretty delightful highlight of the week. Let´s see what else happened... I went on exchanges with Sister Cozzens this past week! It was wonderful! I forgot how crazy she is and how much I love her! It´s kind of weird to have her as my Sister Trainer Leader thingy but it´s nice... hahah I don´t know what I am going to do after she leaves in August! She´s been a part of my whole mission practically! hahah
And ohmygoodness! May is practically here! How did that happen??? I was just talking to you guys and now somehow it´s happening again! How does time keep going by so quickly?! But I am super excited to talk with you guys in a couple of weeks!!
Also. I had a pretty cool experience this past week. Sister Dabelko and I were visiting an older lady in our ward who lives alone and she was having a pretty rough day and was pretty upset and discouraged when we showed up... usually we just sing with her and share a message real quick, but this time we knew that it was not going to be a quick visit. We couldn´t leave her alone again with her still so upset, so we sang and read a Liahona article with her and then we just talked with her. Just about anything. I remembered that her grandparents had been Italian and that she had only spoken italian until she was about 13 and so I asked her about that and about her family and we just talked with her and ended up sharing some of our family stories as well. I ended up telling her about... I think it was Grampy Nothum´s mom (right????) who came over from from Romania with her 5 boys and pregnant and didn´t know any english and only had a sewing machine.... (that was her right?? But yeah I just told her about her and how special and really honestly powerful she was and almost as soon as I was finished talking I was just hit by this GRANDE wave of the spirit and of love to the point where I almost just burst out in tears... and I felt... I guess... pressure almost... on my shoulders... And I knew in that moment that she was there with me... and that she knew me and loved me... This woman that quite honestly I know almost nothing about, (just this one story about her... I honestly couldnt even tell you her name right now) but she knows me and she loves me. This random little great granddaughter... she was there with me. I listened to a talk about a month or so ago and the guy talked about how Heavenly Father really does send angels to come and protect us and to be with us and help us, and that more often than not those angels are our family members and loved ones that have passed on before us... I one hundred percent believe it now. One hundred percent. We are NEVER alone. We have Heavenly Father with us always, and really we have a whole legion of loved ones behind us and pulling for us and with us at every moment. We are never ever alone. And I cannot wait to get back and start to know all of them as well as they know me right now...
But yeah... that was my experience... and it was pretty cool.... =] I also ate oreos this week... they were disgusting. One they were not double stuffed... I can´t remember the last time i ate anything but a double stuffed oreo ( can you say entitled americana... hahah) but it tasted like just a regular cracker disguised as a oreo with a little nothing in the middle... it was really weird... They just can´t get ameerican food right down here... Some things yes... the snickers are perfect... but other things heck no. hahah It´s weird...
But I hope that ya´ll have had a wonderful week! A wonderful Easter! I love you all!

No I have not been waiting since my 2nd day in the MTC to use that when I hit 9 months... =D But seriously! I hit nine months on Thursday! Can yall believe it! I definitely cannot. It´s actually incredibly weird... especially since I still feel like i have no idea what I am doing half the time still. hah =]
But um yeah... This is officially going to be the lamest email ever in the history of emailing cuz I dont have anything to write about really, other than hitting nine months... Um... I´m almost done with the Book of Mormon again in english and am almost halfway through 2nd Nephi in Portugues... We´re having house inspections and interviews with President this Thursday... ummm no one in my zone has gotten a letter in the past 3 weeks... which is weird especially since we have the mission office in our zone... aka we always get our mail first... We had 5 less actives/inactives in church yesterday. That was pretty awesome. The world cup is starting in like a month... or maybe two... i cant remember... It´s almost mother´s day! (what??! how did that happen.. I was just talking to you guys...) I might be sending yall a package soon...ish. dont get too excited. =]/ if yall are planning on sending a package anytime soon a camera and twizlers would be appreciated... also razers... those things cost an arm and a leg here. hahah It´s so funny the things that they had behind the cash registers for protection here in grocery stores... In almost every single store it´s a combo of alchool (understandable), chocolate (a little stange...) and hygine products like toothbrushes and razors and deordorant (what the heck??) All they all cost a ridiculous amount. haha it´s so funny..
BUUUUUT yeah. Sorry this week is so lame. I loved the pictures. I love hearing from all yall! Love you so much!

(237) General Conference Weekend!
April 7, 2014
There was SO MUCH that happened this week! We moved in with the Bosque Sisters (aka Sister Cozzens and her awesome Canadian Comp Sister Rodrigues) cuz our house is infected with bugs and getting exterminated today. We started our official English Class Wednesday and people actually showed up! I also had my first allergic reaction Saturday night! Don´t worry it was nothing serious. A bug just bit me and I guess I´m allergic to it or to whatever it had in it and I ended up with Hives all up and down my arms... Or maybe they weren´t hives... I have no idea what hives are if I´m being honest (I know nothing about allergies) but they just looked and itched like a bunch of misquito bites all over. I had at least a hundred, a hundred and fifty on each leg starting at my knee and going up and down my thighs and calves and all over my arms... Don´t worry though. Sister Cozzens and Dabelko took great care of me using her weird essential oil thingys... hahah And I am now itch free! hahah
BUUUUUUUUUT! The big thing this past week was obviously Conference!!! It was wonderful! And did you guys hear?!?! President Tanner is going to be the 1st Counselor in the General Sunday School Presidency! Their mission ends this July and he´s starting up then! We were all so excited and cheered and everything when we heard! haha
But yeah, Conference was so amazing! I have 32 pages of notes... mind you it was a small notebook but still... 32!! hahah I´m gonna try and share some of my favorite parts with you guys. I want to expound on all of them but there are so many so I´m probably just gonna list them all out for you guys! Enjoy!
Jeffery R. Holland: "Jesus is not a comfortable God" "Talk about man making God in his own image" (in reference to how Christ and Heavenly Father demand sacrifices of us to help us grow, and that if we are comfortable we are not growing or becoming closer to them)
Richard G. Scott: "He (Christ) can do more with our lives than we could ever do on our own."
Robert D. Hales: "When we obey, we accept His sacrifice." "Claiming to love God while picking and choosing which commandmentswe will follow is NOT obedience OR love."
Dieter F. Uchtdorf: "We all experience times when the very fabric of our lives tear at the seams" "Because we are made of the stuff of eternity, endings are not part of our destiny. They are merely pauses, small interruptions. In this plan there are no endings, only eternal beginnings."
Jean A. Stevens: She quoted C.S. Lewis and I loved it. "I pray because I can´t help myself. I pray because the need flows out of me, waking and sleeping. It doesn´t change God. It changes me." She also said "The Gospel of Jesus Christ is not weight. It is wings. We choose if we are carried."
David A. Bednar: "Making and keeping sacred covenants yokes us to the Savior and together we press forward" "The Lord strengthens us. He does not remove the burden." "His atonement allows us to do good and be better than our natural capacities or even desires."
L. Tom Perry: "We must be willing to completely alter our course." "We must teach our spirits and our bodies to work together."
Marcos A. Aidukaitis: "One should not run through garbage."
D. Todd Christofferson: "Christ´s victory over death ended the Human Predicament. Now there are only Personal Predicaments." "Because He was ressurrected Jesus was no mere mortal, He had to have been a God. Therefore what He taught has to be true, for God cannot lie."
Sorry this is so long but Conference was just so good! If you missed it go online and watch or read it now! It was AMAZING! And even if you didn´t miss it, go online and watch or read the talks! I am so grateful to live in a time the has a living prophet and apostles! AHHHH! It´s so amazing!! =D
I love all of you guys and am so grateful for the support and love that I feel from you! Have a fabulous week!!! =D

(230) HAPPY APRIL Y'ALL!
April 1, 2014
Well really nothing much happened here this past week. For some reason the first week of transfers is always rough... even when nothing changes. We only had 8 lessons total last week (which was ROUGH, let me tell you.) The few lessons that we did have marked pretty much all fell through. We spent a lot of time knocking doors.... BUT we had 6 lessons yesterday, so we are already making up for it. I am so excited to still be here in Mirandopolis. 4 transfers now! Only 2 more and I will have spent a half of my mission here. =] I hope so!
But yeah... there´s not much to say about this past week... I decided it would be a good idea to see what would happen if I put Fanta in my super fancy water filter waterbottle... it was not. It might have been the worst idea of my mission so far... It tasted like carbony nothing with a hint of orange... but now all the little purifying ball things are permanently stained orange and any water I try to drink out of it tastes like straight baking powder with a hint of old stale orange. It is literally the worst. I don´t know why I am such an elder sometimes with all these stupid ridiculous ideas... fanta through my water filter, sucking the bone marrow out of chicken bones... JK! I have never done that, would NEVER do that... I´m just making fun of some disgusting elders.... =D And I mean I guess I can just put in the replacement filter that I have but I was totally planning on saving that one for when the zombies come... I´ll probably just buy a cheap new water bottle. Who needs super fancy filters here anyways?? We buy all our water anyways... haha
Oh and then we went to the temple today! I love the temple! It was great! SO much better than last time, way less stressful and I could actually understand pretty much almost everything! Which was awesome!
But yeah that´s pretty much it for this week... i know super lame... Oh and speaking of super lame I cant believe yall havent listened to the talk yet. =] Seriously though, it is the greatest! Listen to it when Boy Boy gets back =] and then I´ll give you another one.
I love you all so much! Beijos!

So I don´t have too much to say which is good cuz i only have like 15
more minutes but this week was pretty good. I can´t believe we only have
one more week until the end of this transfer!! It feels like I was
literally just telling y'all bout how this transfer was about to start
and how weird it was going to be cuz it would be almost april when it
ended and now... here we are. so weird.
But let´s see. Real quick so stories for y'all. So we live next to a 7th day adventist church right?? And they´re always singing and everything and Sister Dabelko and I actually now know a bunch of their songs cuz we hear them all the time, and so last night they were having a service and their doors were open like always and we went and asked if they had any cds we could buy of their music, cuz we like it so much. They were so excited. Two mormon missionaries, asking for cds! hahahah we both ended up with two books, a dvd, and a cd that they just gave us! hahaha of course i cant use half of it for like a year still but it was so funny and awesome! haha plus we got to see what the inside was like, which I have been dying to know since I got here. haha
Let´s see. what else. Oh also, I spent half an hour picking little baby ants out of my bowl of granola. I accidently forgot to put the bag in my big tupperware to keep them out and they were swarming! But it was kind of the only thing I had left since it was the end of the week. and so like half an hour and 40 ants after i poured my bowl I gave up and decided i need the extra protein anyways and drown it all in yogurt! hahah oh the life of brazilian missionaries.
But yeah I have no more time... I love you. Look up the talk "His grace is sufficient" by Brad Wilcox this week! But you cant just read it. you HAVE TO find a recording of it! Listen to it together. It is AMAZING!
Sorry this letter is so lame. Love you bunches and bunches!

Weellllll....
It´s only been like 4ish days since I emailed cuz of silly carnival
buuuuuuut I am so grateful for Pday today! Sister Dabelko and I have
already taken one 2 hour nap today and I most definitely plan on taking
another if I can! But yeah this past week was pretty good... goodness I
really dont have that much to write about... ummm ok.(219)
I´m not quite sure how to start this... This week has been really
really big actually. Full of fabulous stories and wonderful insights and
lots of crazy people. But let´s see.... I guess I´ll start with
Carnival... Oh Carnival! ...turns out Carnival in Sao Paulo is actually
extremely disappointing... at least in our area. The whole world leaves
and goes to the beach or to family or just somewhere else to party,
members and non members, which leaves us missionaries here by oursleves
with no one to visit and a normal work schedule... It was interesting...
Actually it wasn´t as bad as I thought it was going to be... We did a
booth!! On the side of the road! And handed out pamphlets and talked to
everybody waiting at the bus stop near by and gave out candy! It was
kind of one of the most exhausting things I have ever done! hahah But we
figured it would be infinitely more effective than knocking empty
houses and really it was... We got 80 conversas... ummm aka
"conversations".... The goal for the mission is 70 for a whole week.
And we got 80 in one day... We ended up with 126 conversas for the whole
week!! It was crazy! But yeah so that was a great met a lot of
people... met a lot of crazy people.... but it was good. =]
Annnnnnnnd then one of my life long dreams finally came true this past week!! I finally ate from a Food Truck!! hahah We pass this food truck every single day and I know it´s recommended that we don´t eat off the street but OHMYGOODNESS I dont think I´ve ever had a better hot dog IN MY LIFE. The hot dog was fried and put in this delicious roll thingy with melted cheddar and catipury ( a type of cheese that is literally straight from heaven...) corn, tomatoes, mustard, and mash potatoes!! NOOOOOSSSSSAAAAAA. It is offical. I am eating all of my hot dogs with mash potatoes for the rest of my life... Oh it was delicious.
Oh and also I ate corn ice cream this week... also surprisingly delicious.
But on to the important thing... The big thing of this past week... I was brushing my teeth the other day (isn´t that when all the big things happen haha =]) and I realized that I had changed... Like I have really changed. And it´s funny. I remember before I came out on my mission I did not want to change. That sounds bad but I was afraid of changing... I was afraid of coming back different. Of not being me anymore. And I realized yesterday actually that it´s happened... I´ve changed. And I can barely write it out to you guys with out starting to bawl like a baby in this puny little lan house. I am different and I don't really know how to explain it. I know my Savior now and I think I am finally starting to understand Heavenly Father´s plan for us and what it means to be trucly converted to the Lord and to have no more disposition to to do evil... Because I truly feel that way. I realized today that absolutely nothing is worth risking being with my Heavenly Father and Savior forever encircled in the arms of their love with my family for all of eternity. There is nothing that the world could offer that would be even the tiniest bit worth risking that happiness and love. And I want to promise everybody who reads this, with all the power and authority that comes with my sacred calling as a representative of the Lord Jesus Christ that He loves you and will help you no matter what you may have done or even not be doing. He loves you. And you can accomplish anything through Him.

(212) HAPPY ONE YEAR SINCE RECEIVING MY MISSION CALL TO MEEEEEE!
Yup. That´s right. It was one year ago yesterday that I received my
mission call to serve in the Brazil Sao Paulo South Mission... and now
look at me! Stylin my way through the incredibly uneven streets of
Brazil with my disgusting strappy shoes, broken Portugues, and Americana
charm.=] How did I even get here?? I have no idea...
But yeah. First things first. Rachy Rach. I got your letter! It was so delightful to hear from you! I would write you back but I kind of still havent figured out how to send letters there yet... but yeah it was wonderful!! And BEKAHHHHHH! You have a baby!!! I don´t know if you read these but OHMYGOODNESS I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU GUYS! I have been praying for you and every time I´ve been to the temple so far I´ve put your names in and I am so HAPPY!!! =D AHHHHHHH
ALRIGHT! Now for the good story stuff! Starting with the best! We had NINE investigators at church again yesterday!! 6 of them walked themselves to church without a ride from a member and 2, Elaine and her daughter, where formers who we stopped teaching my first transfer here and just decided to get up and come to church for the first time yesterday morning!!
Oh and we have SEVEN people on date right now!! Josy and her 4 kids, Diane and a girl name Nayara! They are all so awesome and I love them all so much!
We also were invited to an English class this past weekend as well... It´s with the other ward (we´ve been trying to start our own for like a whole transfer now but its not really going yet...) and it´s actually really funny cuz the guy teaching it was one of Garrett Egan´s (one of my really good friends from out at school) companions while he was serving down here. He was just like "hey! do you know garrett egan??" And I was like "uh heck yes I know garrett egan!" And then he was all like "Awesome! He was my companion! You should come help with my english class!" hahha So we did. It was fun. It was mostly just a bunch of old ladies trying to learn a little english (this weeks lesson was on asking personal questions politely... It was full of "Just out of curiosity"s and "If you don´t mind my asking"s... I was dying the whole time...) from this super energetic 21 year old Brazilian.... It was fabulous. We are definitely going back this week.
Let´s see what else happened? Oh. I officially became an elder... or at least when it comes to eating food. I may or may not have at one point this past week consumed a giant bowl of nothing but Jello, frosted flakes, and sweetned condensed milk.....It was the greatest and the worst thing I´ve ever had in my entire life... hahah There was also supposed to be fruit with it and those things were just supposed to go on top of the fruit (jello i understand... but frosted flakes?? really?? annd the brazilians have a crazy unhealthy obsession with sweetened condensed milk... they put it on and in everything....) and somehow I ended up just eating those things... Dont Judge Me. =]
And now for the spiritual thought. =] This weeks spiritual thought is brought to you from my wonderfully fabulous friend Elder Lincoln Sherwood who is currently serving in Houston, Texas waiting for his visa for Porto Alegre Brazil. Apparently they had a big something down there in the stake he is serving in about missionary work and this was in his email this week, and I really enjoyed it....:
"Stop praying for the missionaries to find people and start praying for you to find people. Missionaries are not there so you can help them but so we can help you! Stop feeling guilty about not doing missionary work and start enjoying the blessings of doing it! The Lord is preparing people every day. Alma 13:29."
BOOM! So yeah! Get on out there and start helping the missionaries in your ward!! They will love it!
Sorry! I once again am out of time! But just know that I love you all very very very much and that I am so grateful for all of your love and support and prayers!! Love you!!
